Free and paid: what each tier includes.

You can start a story as a guest without an account, email address, or card. A free account lets you continue it and includes every character, Scene Memory, and the same writer used on paid passes. Paid passes add more messages and scene illustrations. Every reply counts toward the message allowance, including a regenerated reply and a reply to an edited message.

Pick a character and start writing. You do not need an account, email address, or card. Guest stories use the same writer, memory, and characters as account stories.

The guest allowance is short, so you will need a free account to continue a longer story.

Free

A free account, no card. Every character, Scene Memory, and the uncensored writer, all the same as on paid passes. Your stories are kept, and you can come back to them whenever you like.

Free includes 10 illustrations over the same rolling 30 days as its messages. Guests get none.

What paid passes buy

Paid passes include more messages and scene illustrations. The writer and Scene Memory stay the same.

Standard is $5.99 for 30 days: 2,000 messages and 100 illustrations. Premium is $13.99 for 30 days: 4,000 messages and 450 illustrations. Deluxe is $49.90 for 30 days, with unlimited messages and illustrations under fair use. Each tier also comes as a 90-day pass at a lower per-day price: Standard is $12.99 with 4,300 messages and 200 illustrations, Premium is $35.99 with 10,200 messages and 1,150 illustrations, and Deluxe is $124.99. Illustrations

Illustrations come with a free account: 10 in any 30 days, and every pass includes more. Every illustration delivered to your story counts toward your allowance, including a new picture of a scene that was already illustrated. On a free account, illustrations come back as earlier ones pass the 30-day mark. If a pass's illustrations run out, your story carries on without pictures, and a new pass can replace the running one; the Terms of Service hold the exact rule.

Billing

Every pass runs for 30 or 90 days, paid once, and starts the moment you buy it. If the messages on a Standard or Premium pass run out before its days, chat pauses while the rest of the pass keeps running, and any new pass, at its full price, picks the story back up. You hold one pass at a time: upgrading while one is running — to a higher tier, or to more days at your tier — replaces it, for the price of the new pass less the value left in your current one. While your current pass still has value left, the same pass, a lower tier, or fewer days at your tier become available once it ends; once no value is left, any pass can be bought at its full price. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel: when the pass ends, your account returns to free and your stories stay. Can I buy another pass while mine is running?

You can upgrade: move to a higher tier, or get more days at your tier. That takes the place of the pass you hold. You pay the price of the new pass, less the value left in your current one, and you see both before you confirm. If the value left covers the whole price, there is nothing to pay: the new pass starts straight away, and any value beyond its price is not kept. Otherwise your current pass ends when the payment goes through, and the new one starts with all its days, messages, and illustrations. While your current pass still has value left, the same pass, a lower tier, or fewer days at your tier become available once it ends. Once no value is left, for example after its messages run out, you can buy any pass at its full price.

Does a pass renew automatically?

No. Every pass is paid once. It never renews and there is nothing to cancel: when it ends, your account returns to free and you can choose your next pass whenever you like. Payments are handled by Verotel, and the charge on your statement starts with vtsup.com*.
