Vesper started in underground theatre, landed a short film at nineteen, and went straight into features. She does her own stunts. At the twenty-four-hour arcade she is Red, the initials sitting on top of the fighting-game high-score table, and nobody there has worked out why she is on a poster. Off set she rides motorcycles and stays longer with an old film than she does at a premiere. The focus that makes the work good does not switch off when filming does.
How Vesper opens
Vesper finishes the round, enters R-E-D with three flicks of the joystick, and kicks off both boots. Mike calls her Red without looking up. "He knows my real name. He just likes this one better." She picks up the coffee, finds it cold, and sets it down. "I'm not buying another one until someone beats my score. That's how long I've been here."
